From this angle, in the great room of this Award Winning show home the coffered ceilings and the valances topping the windows are noticeable. In the bottom right corner is the edge of the three sided island that the kitchen hides behind while still being a part of the great room.

The front of the island is a glass showcase acting like a piece of furniture in the room. Straight ahead of the showcase on the opposite wall is the built in entertainment centre that houses the sixty inch screen of the television. Everything is in one great room to keep the family together and entertained.

Formal Dining

Also a part of the award winning showroom this French Country dining room is entered from the kitchen through the butlers bar. The butlers bar serves as landing place between the kitchen and dining room for serving meals and drinks.

Notice the elegantly simple design of the valance that has a way of complimenting the sculptured inlays that are in the four corners of the wall to wall carpet. The ceiling medallion enhances the chandelier that completes the details of this formal dining room.

Natural Stone

The natural stone used to surround the front, back and sides of this open fireplace heats the home for many hours after the fire has gone out. The eclectic mix of furnishings collected by the family that lives here are all treasures from past and present and are shown throughout the room.

The comfort that the room offers simply demands that you sit down and contemplate the wonders of the world. With the French doors closed and the fire crackling it seems there can only be thoughts of loved ones all gathered around. It is a room of memories for the owners of this home.

Keystone Award

The design and décor of this room was awarded a Silver Keystone placing. The draperies frame the windows while the valances steps up the vaulted cedar ceilings inviting you to enjoy the view up three different valleys.

When the French doors on the opposite side of the room are closed off to the kitchen and dining area and the fire crackles in the background you are taken to a place where stories are told and memories are made.

Dream Home

Every year many homes are built for lotteries. This is one that also won a Keystone Award. Built Green to meet the standards required at the time of its construction, the exterior landscaping shows off xeriscaping features. Cultured stone enhancements to the exterior also lend detail to the front entrance.

The home sits on a lot that has streets on three sides so it has exterior detailing that showcases the visual appeal in each direction.

Vaulting Challenges

The vaulted ceilings in the great room of this lottery home became a small challenge when it came to the design of the kitchen cabinets. Wanting them to go to the ceiling and make use of all the available height became a feature within the design. This view gives you an idea of the layout and how the island sits within the space.

Acacia walnut floors were taken throughout the main areas of the home. One of the lighter tones within the floors was chosen to stain the cabinets to compliment the room.

Broken Edges

The broken edges of the concrete counter tops are inlaid in various areas with the glass tiles used in the backsplash of this kitchen. The upper glass door cabinets extend out three inches further than the lower part of the cabinets allowing extra depth for larger items to be showcased.

Note the glass section above the pantry door. All the interior doors in the home are done this way to allow light to travel from one room to the other. The home is built in an area that is surrounded by a golf course and lends itself to semi-retirement and retirement living.

Great Room

Looking at the great room of the home from an entrance point you are able to see the value of entertaining in the space. The curved sofa and ottoman soften the lines in the room giving a feeling of space. The abundance of windows in all directions lets you enjoy the surroundings of the home.

The use of pot lights in the ceilings gives openness to the room while still lighting the areas that require light. Task lighting is also used in areas of the room.

Visual Entrance

The entrance to the dream home gives you a visual view through to the entertainment area. There is a place to showcase a priced item and a simple design for the staircase that leads down to the daylight basement. On the wall of the landing part way down the stairs is a feature, raised plaster palm fern in colour and detail.

Turning to the right after entering will take you down the hall to the master suite of the home, while turning left will take you into a room that can be utilized as an office or bedroom.

Adobe Style

Set into the wilds of BC sits this Adobe Style home. Note the extended overhangs over the high windows and how they are designed to allow the light in while being protected from the heat of the high summer sun. The colours of the exterior have been chosen to sit comfortably within the outdoor environment. There is a series of fish ponds to the left of the home enhancing the outdoor experience of this property.
